I love you :)

Well hey there it's been awhile since I have written. Life got a little crazy as it usually does at times. George came home(EARLY) woohoo for me. Having him home for Christmas was the best present EVER!! I have been super sick for like 5 weeks. Well as the doctor told me I was stupid sick LOL I smile every time I think of him saying that to me. George was also sick. Christmas was fast approaching and both of us to tired and sick to even care. All of this combined with every day life and time just got away from us.
I am writing today with a very heavy heart. A dear friend lost her daughter on Christmas Day :( It really makes you stop and pause. I know life must go on but it really makes you take account of your own life and your friends and family. Do you tell them "I love you"? I know in my family we were never big on hugs and kisses and saying "I love you". This was the first year I made a point in telling all 3 of my brothers that I loved them. It's hard to say when you don't say it all the time. So I have made a pledge to myself to say "I Love you" to the people in my life. You just don't know if they will be there tomorrow to tell them.
Life seems unfair when a life is taken away to soon. I have to think there has to be a purpose a teaching experience for those of us left behind to have to deal with the sadness and loss.
Smile :) Be Happy :) Say I Love you!

I LOVE YOU XOXOXOXO

My favorite quote from Mark Twain

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Mixed Emotions!!

As many of you know this was the last day for the Tim Hortons in Kandahar. The boys are coming home so that means the Tim Horton's does as well :) I feel very honored to have served those who serve. I wish I was there for the closing though. I will admit I'm a bit sad. I was there for the opening of the store and put some long hard hours into it. Would have loved to have seen the last coffee served.
On the other hand though George is coming home on Thursday. Woohoo!! Very happy he got to go experience KAF as well. To see where I worked and what it was all about. I'm very proud of him.
It will not be the same there with us Canadians gone that's for sure. I am so happy I was picked to go it changed my life for the best.
So today is a mixed emotion day . Happy :) and sad :(  Mostly happy though :) My man is coming home!!
Sending all my love to my friends in KAF right now. Great job guys.. much love  hope to see you soon. Thanks for making George feel welcome there. You guys rock!!!

Every Breath you Take!!

I was driving home from work today in silence as I always do.  Being around noise and having to be on your "A"game all day can take a toll on you. So my ride home is quiet and I take the time to calm myself. Today though it was rainy and windy and not such a nice day. For some reason I put on the radio and Every Breath you Take was playing :)
One of my father's favorite songs. I smiled as I always do when I hear this song. This was the last song that I danced with him before he died. Not a day goes by that he doesn't enter my thoughts one way or another. Today though I had time  to reflect and remember some happy times and laughs we shared. I was skyping with George and he asked me what I was having for supper. I had planned on a chicken wrap with rice. Being such a cold and rainy day though I felt like something with some more comfort. After hanging up with George I realized I had made one of my father's favorite meals :) Potatoes with hamburger gravy over top. Simple and plain but my Dad loved it. I smoother it with ketchup which would drive him crazy. Your ruining your food he would say. hahaha Miss you Dad!! xoxoxoxoxox

This song is for you Dad!!

Back to reality!!

Well its has been a month since I have been home from my most amazing vacation ever with George.
I look at all the pics we took and I'm in awe of all we done and saw. Took me a few weeks to get back into the swing of things. Had the post vacation blues for a bit and as always the missing Georgie blues. It's November now though.Almost there!! I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking of his return home.
Since I have been back I have noticed that I have zero patience for people.Let me explain that a little better. Like stupid comments on FB and just people in general I see and talk to who I think complain just  to complain. Wake up!! I want to shout out at the top of my lungs!! Really is your life that bad. No it's not. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to travel and see other parts of the world like I have. To see that living Canada is pretty friggin awesome!!! You don't like it here then leave.
ahhh nice to get that off my chest. I have more to rant on but I will save that for another blog cause it deserves a rant all on it's own. hmmm 2 blogs in one day...maybe....stay tuned
Just want to give a shout out  to all my friends and family who have been there for me. You know who you are.I love you :)  Being with someone in the military can be very trying at times and also very rewarding. I must say on average everyone is very supportive and has my back. There are the few that say well "this is what you signed up for" grrrrrrrrrrrr. I swear one of these times I'm going to go postal and just lose it on these people. Trust me I know what I signed up for and I'm damn proud I stepped up to the plate.Remembrance Day is in a few days and I'm so proud of George who was asked to be on honor guard for the ceremony in Kandahar. Looking back over the years I have been with George I remember the good times and the struggles. Moving across Canada countless times, finding a new job, new friends, new doctors. Being away from family, missing holidays the list just goes on and on. Through all of that though one thing always remains constant. The love we have for one another. To be each other's guiding light. THAT'S WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR!!

I leave you with this quote, may you think on it,hopefully you will act on it.

it's the final countdown!!!

6 days to go and I will be on my way to see George :) I have been a busy beaver getting all my ducks in a row before I head off. I try not to think about it to much as I get excited and can't sleep at night and I  already have a hard enough time going to sleep as it is. The hamster is constantly running on its wheel and I can't seem to get him off and go to sleep.  I will admit I am a little stressed about leaving. I know everything will be just fine. Thane and Mitsou will be in great hands and well taken care of. I just need to relax. Easier said then done though.
Being apart from the one you love can be very hard at times. For George and I though it has brought us even closer. We talk and share things with each other that we would never say to each other when were together. I am so happy to have found someone who completes me :)
This is our first "real" vacation since we have been together. Like 15 years.WOW!!  I can't wait to share it with him. George is doing good counting down the days though. He needs a break from the heat, sand, everyday feeling like Monday and the amazing food at the DFAC's :) LOL
A good breath of fresh air will do him some good. Maybe some pasta or pizza in Rome will go down nicely as well. Tide him over till he's done and can come home.
Well time to sign off George should be on skype soon. The best part of my day is talking to him and I don't want to miss that. Bye for now. Really hoping the hamster gets off his wheel tonight :P

Fall is in the air :)

What did one Autumn leaf say to the other???    I'm falling for you.   I know lame hahahah :D

Fall has got to be my favorite season. Still sunny and warm with a crisp breeze in the background. The smell of the leaves in the air puts a spring in your step and you find yourself smiling. We cannot forget the trees that transform into any photographer's dream. We also have to remember my favorite holiday.. Halloween :) A time to dress up and be something your not for one day. Where nobody even looks twice for having purple hair and fangs. The carving of the pumpkins. Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. A time to give thanks. I love fall!! It makes me sad when I hear others complain that summer is over. I wish they could see the beauty in fall and not think about winter  and what that brings. Just to enjoy the few short months fall has to offer us.
The smells of apple cider and pumpkin pie and turkey mmmmmmm can't wait. I will be enjoying most of these by myself this year. Cause someone had to run off and find himself somewhere hot and sandy to play. lol Well I shouldn't say by myself but with friends :) I am blessed to have such great friends in my life. You know who you are :) Oh ya and how could I forget I was born in Autumn :) This year I will get to spend my birthday with George unlike last year which I spent with great friends in Afghanistan. A birthday I will never forget :) This year's birthday is looking promising though. Spending it with the love of my life :) I can't believe I will be turning 26 this year.......oh ya right I mean cough cough 38 hahaha. I do not feel 38 at all. My lovely co workers tell me all the time that they think I am in my late 20's. How kind of them I must say it does make me feel good. Not that aging is a bad thing at all.
So enjoy the sights and sounds and smells that Fall has to offer I know I will be :)

Rage and Roundabouts!!!!

Those of you who know me know that I'm pretty max relax. It takes alot for someone or something to get under my skin. I seem to struggle with one aspect in my life...DRIVING!!! Yes when I get into the truck I literally morph into Medusa. I hate stupidity, lazy, careless drivers. The lovely town of Comox has been putting in roundabouts. I don't mind these things at all, because I know how to use them. If you do not know how to use them learn or stay away from them. One day I am going to drive right over you!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr. Below I have linked a page to the rules of how to use one. Print out and pass along to your friends

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/tp-tp14787-menu-179.htm

Ahhhhh glad I got that all out. Seriously though learn how to use a roundabout cause if you don't you will see the wrath of Dawn aka Medusa like you have never seen. I am going to buy the biggest tires I can find and run over everything in path :)  Have a great day!! :) :)

Love is.....

Hello there it's me again.
Seems like just yesterday I was writing my first blog. Now I'm on my 3rd. I'm on a roll. :)
So I was asked by a friend the other day. How do you and George stay so much in love with each other? I laughed cause I thought she was joking. She continued on and said no seriously the two of you seem like you just met and are in the first stage of your relationship. I smiled back at her and said well thank you for thinking that. I didn't really say much after that as we were interrupted.
So I was walking Thane(my little pony) and started to smile as I was thinking about George and the question my friend had asked. She is right we are very much in  love and I am very happy that we portray that picture. 15 years later and we still have "it". So what makes us tick. Well I can honestly say it's not one thing. We really don't work at our relationship at all. We just have fun with each other. It's the little day to day things that we do for each other. I'm not saying it's all rainbows and butterflies all the time. Cause we both do things that annoy each other. At the end of the day though we really enjoy being with each other. If I had any advice it would be not to take the other person for granted. I sometimes find myself doing just that and have to check myself on it.Don't sweat the small stuff and fight over stupid things. It's not worth it.George's motto is we have this one life so lets make the best of it and enjoy the ride till it's over. I couldn't agree more :)
Still to this day I get butterflies just thinking about seeing him. I can't speak for him for how I make him feel. As far as it goes for me, I can honestly say he treats me like a princess. He makes me feel special and that I truly matter. I think I have to give props to his parents for the way he was raised.
He has amazing values and morals and strives to be a positive person.
Love is different for everyone. I'm just really happy that I have found my prince. My wish is for all of you to find your prince or princess.

"I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love." — Mother Teresa

Love you sweetie xoxoxo

Time is Ticking Away!!

So it has been awhile since my last post. Over 2 weeks now. Wow time goes by fast when your having fun right??  I am doing better got myself more into a routine.I still have days were I am feeling very blah but I am thankful for friends who drag me out to the movies, go watch ball games, geocache and have me over for amazing food :) You guys are the best!!!!
George seems to be settling in to KAF quite well. It seems when he's not at work or talking to me he pretty much lives at the gym :) He loves to workout and I can't wait to see the results( blush). I also have been working out which makes me feel so much better.
We now have George's HLTA dates( Home Leave Travel Allowance) for those non military reading... lol
So instead of George coming home I'm going over there to see him Just want to say thank you to the military for paying for my flight :) One of the nice perks I guess. We are planning on going on a Mediterranean Cruise. SOOOOOOOO Excitied!!!
My lovely neighbors have accepted the challenge of taking care of Thane and Mitsou while we are gone. They are super nice and it will be a huge relief knowing that are in good hands.Thank you guys:)
I am wishing the time away right now which I hate doing, but when you loved one is so far away all you can think about is when you will see them next. I am hoping that time slips away from me and I will be on a plane in no time to see him.
Time is funny thing. I was talking to George the other day and I laughed to myself when he said the days here go by so quick but the weeks are so long. I remember the same feeling when I was there. I hope his time ticks away as fast as it does for me.
I am sure I will be posting more now that I am feeling better and can see the light at the end of the tunnel :)
Well off to make some yummy cupcakes now!

Left Behind!!

Hello welcome to my Disco Dance :)
Why disco you ask and not the tango or the jive(my father's favorite) or even the waltz. Well disco  makes you feel alive and you can't help but smile from head to toe when you listen to the music and let your body sway to and throw.
I have decided to start a blog to share some of my feelings, hopes, dreams and whatever other crazy things I can conjure up. So you may be in for a bumpy ride. So here we go........

It has been a week to the day since the love of my life left me to go to Afghanistan.Well if you know me at all you know I have been to Afghanistan as well. I did a 6 month tour there  working as a baker at Tim Horton's. Probably the best experience of my life. So when George came home to tell me he was going. I was thinking I have this in the bag. I have been there I know what it's like. So this will be a walk in the park for me. Ya not the case. I have been Left Behind several times for months on end and have done quite ok. I am a very strong and independent person and once I set my mind to something I will get it done. I have a very easy come easy go attitude and can adapt to change at a moment notice. Being with a military man there is no other way.
So with that being said I have seemed to have fallen apart this week.Crying and feeling down and blue. Soooooo not my nature at all. I have lost my best friend. I know he's coming back but right in this moment it feels like a lifetime away.
I know as each day goes by it will get better and I will get into a routine as I always do.This just came as a shock to me feeling like this. So I can let these feelings get the best of me or I can turn these negative thoughts and feelings into something positive. A learning experience :) I don't have to be the rock and the strong one all the time. It's ok to cry and feel lonely cause I know I have a great group of friends and family who I can call and say I need to talk. So If I come up to you and say I need a hug. Don't get freaked out and wonder what the heck is wrong with Dawn. lol
So that's my ramble for the day. It's ok to be Left Behind. This too shall pass!!!
What's that I hear in the background....disco... time to go dance :)
